Learn to maximize farm and garden productivity and reduce off-site inputs with the use of tree crops, food forests, swales, earthworks, and more with Trevor Newman and Mark Angelini of ecological design firm Roots to Fruits. $5-$25 suggested donation. Saturday, June 22 from 1pm to 3pm at 2550 Orchard Hill Rd, Bellaire
Roots To Fruits founders Mark Angelini and Trevor Newman will lead an evaluation/design oriented walk-about on the ISLAND homestead site. Participants will learn techniques for observation and strategies for site evaluation; the basics of the holistic design process; recommended species selection for NW Michigan design approaches for integrating pasture, tree crops, livestock; and other ecological land management strategies in a permaculture context. $10-$30 suggested donation.
